The Society is greatly indebted to the many people who have given their generous support and encouragement to us since we began this adventure. We, the directors could not have done it without the aid of many. We wish to thank the Curator and Staff of the Connecticut Historical Society, The librarians of Yale University, and the many local libraries and historical societies we have visited. Mr. Chris Robyn who wrote a Master's thesis on Yung Wing has been generous with leads and Mr. Ben Lee, a fourth generation Lee to graduate from Yale University since his great-grandfather was one of the original students of the CEC, has been very helpful with organizing events at Yale. Mr. Richard Yung, M.D. of Singapore, a grandson of Yung Hoy, a cousin of Yung Wing, handled the contacts with the many Yung family descendants and helped with arrangements for the special conference at Yale. The law firm of Cole-Chu and Cipparone saw us through the incorporation and tax-free status and made that task easy for us. We are very grateful to Mr. Eugene Kuo who has generously provided us with his service by creating the website the CSMS has - he has brought us into the 21st century. If we have overlooked anyone, we ask their forgiveness; it is not intentional. We are thankful for all those who have invited the CSMS to join in a presentation or speak at a forum, and those who have attended these events. We shall continue to offer our service at community and educational gatherings whenever the opportunity arrives. Making known the story of the Chinese Educational Commission is the purpose of the CSMS. As our ultimate goal is to erect a suitable permanent monument to commemorate the CEC we are grateful to all who have made a contribution to our support. This support is made easier by our non-profit tax status. It is our hope to raise the funds from the many Chinese-Americans whose heritage has contributed to the multicultural society America is today. We hope that the monument will be the gift of the many Chinese who have benefited from the pioneering residence in America of those original 120 students. To this end we ask that you help us in whatever way possible to raise the funds that will erect the monument before the end of this opening year of the new century and millennium.
